Q. Can TotalBlock work with Outlook, Eudora etc.
A. TotalBlock can work with any desktop email system because it interfaces with the email server and there are no changes to the rest of the existing environment.
Q. Are there regular updates to enable TotalBlock to detect SPAM?
A. There are no filters etc that need to be updated to detect SPAM. Since TotalBlock uses Challenge-Response technology, each user will manage their own sender authorizations. There may be software updates as new features and functions are added.
Q. What does a sender do when they are asked to identify themselves?
A. The question may be to reply to the challenge, to insert some text or to identify the characters in an image; the question relates to the level of barrier that has been set when TotalBlock is implemented at any organisation. The user simply responds to the challenge, they will then be authorized and can then send further email without a challenge.
Q. Do people that send me email have to answer the "identify yourself" question every time?
A. No, the authority is normally based on an email address, so once that address is authorised, the person is not required to identify themselves again, unless they change their email address.
Q. Does a sender who is challenged have to send the original email again?
A. There is an implementation of TotalBlock where that is required. It totally depends on the option selected by the Site Administrator. Most companies don't choose this option and the user is not required to send the email again.
Q. How does TotalBlock stop unwanted email?
A. You should read about Challenge-Response. It will help to answer this question.
Q. Do I still need an anti-virus system with TotalBlock?
A. Yes, you do. TotalBlock stops unwanted email, but you can still get a virus with email from someone you know and from whom you receive email. TotalBlock will normally operate in front of a virus protection system, so that unwanted email is not scanned which will avoid wasting resources.
